During the Covid-19 lockdown measures, I was only able to provide remote assessments and treatment sessions. Although the lockdown measures are now easing, I will continue to offer these remote sessions alongside the face to face appointments, as a convenient alternative if preferred. The video consultations have proved to be to be very popular and an effective method of helping people manage their problems.
The video platforms I am currently using are Zoom, Google Meets and WhatsApp. These platforms are securely encrypted, however, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate anti-virus and anti-spyware protection. If you are using a mobile phone you must be aware that it is only as secure as any other phone call on your mobile network. Your sessions will not be digitally recorded though the information collected during the consultation will be noted in your clinical records in the usual way.
For the consultation, ideally you should be alone in a quiet room for privacy, though of course you can have another person with you if you wish. Please wear loose clothing to enable freedom of movement and I will let you know if any other equipment would be useful to have on hand. I will provide plenty of time during the first call especially, to ensure there is a good connection and so you can familiarise yourself with the process.
Self- treatment techniques will be fully explained and rehearsed with you and there will be further online demonstration videos and email support as you require.
If you use this type of consultation your consent will be implied by you accepting the remote consultation invite or entering into the consultation.
The cost of a video remote consultation is £45 payable by bank transfer. Insurance Companies such as BUPA and AXA PPP will usually cover these remote sessions in the same way as face to face appointments.
